All-787 Boeing Operations of Vietnam Airlines switched to Australian Routes

All Boeing 787 Airplanes of Vietnam Airlines has been routed via Australia after the Skyteam Alliance member switched both its Melbourne and Sydney services to the next-generation Dreamliner.

Vietnam Airlines’ maiden 787 Boeing Flight to Australia arrived on Friday morning, when VN781 operated by 787-9 VN-A865 landed at Melbourne Tullamarine at about 0930, after an eight hour and 20 minute journey from Ho Chi Minh City. The route was previously served with Airbus A330-200 equipment.

The  Vietnam Airline is the Eighth carrier to serve Melbourne Tullamarine with the Boeing 787 Aircraft alongside Air India, Air New Zealand,  Royal Brunei Airlines, Scoot,Jetstar, United and Xiamen Airlines.

Meanwhile, Vietnam Airlines’ First 787 service to Sydney arrived less than an hour after the Flight to Melbourne landed.

Flight VN773, operated by 787-9 VN-A870, arrived at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport a little after 1010, with passengers taken on a scenic fly over Sydney Harbour prior to landing.
Melbourne is to get another 787 operator with LATAM announcing the start of Melbourne-Santiago nonstop flights from October 2017.

Qantas also places its QF airline code on Vietnam Airlines’ two Australian routes.
Vietnam Airlines previously operated Boeing 777-200ERs on the Ho Chi Minh City-Sydney route. The switch to the Dreamliner totals to nine the number of carriers operating the Aircraft at Sydney – Vietnam Airlines joins Air India, Air New Zealand, ANA, Jetstar, LATAM Airlines, Scoot, United and Xiamen Airlines.

Support Services GmbH 328,Endorsed by Canada, Wins TCCA Approved Status.

328 Support Services GmbH (328) has been Endorsed by Canada’s Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) with the Award of broad maintenance approval. It allows 328 to undertake modifications and repairs on any Canadian registered Dornier 328 aircraft, from avionic installations to complete aircraft conversions. The approval also enables 328 to distribute new, used or repaired Dornier 328 Aircrafts spare parts to Canada. With the new approval in place, spare parts and appliances will be delivered to Canadian customers under an EASA Form 1 "triple release" which means that they will be certified under EASA, FAA and TCCA regulations.

328 is marking 10 years as Type Certificate holder for the Dorner 328 Jet and turboprop series this year. It currently supports a fleet of around 200 Aircraft worldwide which includes a diverse customer base of regional Airlines, who are flying the Aircraft with 32-seats and business Aviation operators who offer a typical 12 seat VIP configuration or corporate shuttle version. The Aircraft is also used worldwide for special mission, air ambulance and maritime patrol operations.

Canadian Military order for Super Hornet Jets
Boeing’s ageing Super Hornet Fighter Jet is getting a thrust after Canada said it planned to purchase 18 as a stopgap measure while the government begins a five-year bidding process for new jets to modernise its fleet.

Defence minitser Harjit Sajjan stated, "The country will enter negotiations with Boeing to "immediately explore" the acquisition of the Jets, and a separate competition will be held to replace the country’s fleet of CF-18 Fighters, without giving a cost estimate for either project.

Canada’s fleet of CF-18s is down to 77 aircraft from 138 three decades ago and the country risks not being able to meet its global military commitments,added further by Mr Sajjan.

The announcement marks a retreat for the prime minister Justin Trudeau, who campaigned last year on abandoning Canada’s plans to buy Lockheed Martin’s F-35 jets. The company will instead now be able to bid. Meanwhile, Canada’s planned interim order bolsters Boeing’s St Louis manufacturing centre, where the company churns out Super Hornets and F-15 Fighter Jets.

"The interim fleet provides the most effective way forward to help ensure Canada remains a credible and dependable ally," he said. Headded that the country would continue its membership in Lockheed’s Joint Strike Fighter programme.
Saab’s Gripen, Dassault Aviation’s Rafale and the Eurofighter Typhoon, were earlier considered by Canada produced by a consortium including BAE Systems, Airbus and Alenia Aermacchi.


It is too early to estimate the cost of the Super Hornet Jets, said the public services and procurement minister Judy Foote.

"We have a sense of what the cost will be, but we have to enter into negotiations with Boeing," Ms Foote quoted. "I’m not going to prejudge the outcome of our discussions with Boeing. Clearly they have a plane that is of interest to us."

Boeing said it was "honoured" to supply Canada with "the only multi-role fighter aircraft that can fulfill its immediate needs for sovereign and North American defense".


While "disappointed" with Canada’s decision, Lockheed said it remains "confident the F-35 is the best solution to meet Canada’s operational requirements at the most affordable price".

"The F-35 is combat ready and available today to meet Canada’s needs for the next 40 years."
